Located next door to Congee Story , Donburi House offers Japanese cuisine. The rice bowl dish known as donburi forms a main part of their dish selections. The dishes include those familiar to most Australians and a few unique offerings.

The Karaage Chicken in their Karaage Don had juicy flesh contrasted by crisp coating. The chicken had the hint of gingery flavour we expected from Karaage Chicken. We chose the Spicy Mayo & Onsen Egg. The spiciness of the spicy mayonnaise is suitable for most tastes. The onsen egg can be mixed into the rice to give it a richer flavour.

When ordering their Tonkatsu, diners can have it as-is or as a Donburi-style dish. The crumbed pork cutlet was done well. The flesh was not dry and it had a golden-brown crumb coating. The egg topping in the Donburi style dish was light and fluffy, and the dashi sauce added a delectable umami flavour. Take some care when eating the dish as it is served steaming hot.

One of their appetizers, Nagoya Deep-fried Chicken Wings is a dish famous in the region that gives it its name. The dish consisted of deep-fried chicken wings coated in a sweet sauce and dusted with pepper. The flesh of the wings was succulent and the sweetness of the sauce was not excessive. The dusting of pepper complemented the sauce nicely and added a hint of peppery flavour.

While the restaurant is small in size, the décor gives it a cosy Japanese feel. Diners that visit during lunchtime on weekdays can enjoy lunch specials in addition to their main menu.
