Comedian George Burns once said
"You can't help getting older, but you don't have to get old". Are you looking for a new interest or more social interaction for the coming year?
The Donald Simpson Community Centre opened in 1987 with funds from State and Local Government and donations from the community. Its purpose is to provide a venue for social, intellectual and physical activities for the seniors and future seniors of the Redland Coast and neighbouring areas.

The centre provides activities and information programs for members at a nominal fee. Currently, these programs cover topics such as health, education and craft. With the impact of Covid-19, some activities have been curtailed or streamlined though there is no shortage of choice. For a full list of this year's activities go
here.
These days, there is no excuse to sit at home twiddling your thumbs wondering how to fill in the hours. Are you interested in Scrabble, quilting or learning to play the guitar?
The centre also organises reasonably priced coach trips that cover a wide range of interests. Outings for early 2021 include day trips on the Brisbane River on the MV Lady Brisbane, Montville, and the Chinese New Year Celebrations at Sunnybank. Go
here. If long-distance group travel is more your thing, there are planned trips to cover this too.
You must be a member of the Donald Simpson Centre to participate in any of these activities. Membership fees will be due for all members from 1st July. All existing members are to renew their membership for the next financial year until 30th June 2021. New members are welcome anytime.

I recently joined the DSC Writers Group where we expand on writing skills, interact with other writers, enhance skills to partake in writing competitions and much more. We've benefited from a visit by a guest speaker and have homework to keep us involved between meetings. The group meets on 2nd and 4th Tuesday of every month starting from 12th January. Cost $10.00 per class.

There is also a cafe which dishes up a beaut coffee and light meals.
The Donald Simpson Centre is located at 172 Bloomfield Street, Cleveland with a bus stop out the front and plentiful off-street parking. Contact the Centre on 07 3821 1089 for further details.
