Life is about the journey - some roads are not always what they seem but you sure learn a great deal from them!
Published August 7th 2013
When it comes to a Dome Café you know you can count on a few things. For instance, you know that everything is clean and tidy. Of course, some tables are dirty during their busy times, however, on the most part – tables are clean and tidy. You can also rely on friendly staff. I don't think I have ever experienced a staff member that was in a grumpy mood. They all seem to love what they do, and enjoy doing just that. Another aspect would be consistency. They have a menu, and what you see is pretty much what you get.

The Dome Café Eastend on St. George's Terrace is no exception to any of the rules above. For lunch we ordered the Lot burger and Spinach & Feta cannelloni.

Dome Cafe
the LOT Burger

When it comes to a burger, I don't think you can get much wrong. The Dome patty was thick and packed with flavour. It was well presented, which is number one, because you basically "eat with your eyes". The chips were crunchy. There is nothing worse than oil soaked over cooked chips. I can say that the Lot Burger hit a LOT of boxes. Probably one we would order again.

Spinach and Feta Cannelloni

The Spinach & Feta Cannelloni, however, should really have been called the Potato and Onion Cannelloni. While there were fragments of spinach there were only sporadic pieces of feta. This is a shame, because feta is what really gives it that salty flavour. The salad, however, was perfect. Crisp, fresh with a hint of vinegar base dressing.

When you have a business, getting the basics is key. The Dome Cafe gets 100% on consistency

I enjoy the Dome Cafe, on the whole, because that got it right on the most half. While the Cannelloni might not have met up to what I expected, I guess I could have always seasoned it with a bit of salt. The word 'consistency' is really important to me. There is nothing worse than going to a Dome Cafe, having a great meal, only for the same meal to be completely different at another Dome Cafe. I would say Dome Cafe gets this right 98% of the time.

Dome Cafe
Clean, Tidy and well presented with friendly staff

Would I recommend the Dome Cafe to someone? Of course, because I know you would get what is on the menu and have an enjoyable time. That is 80% of the battle won when it comes to Cafés.

I agree, they don't always get it right but they do hit average of most scales. I might not get the best meal in town, but I don't get a meal that looks appealing and I am not charged the earth for it.

Nothing is cooked from scratch.Everything comes in pre cooked and packaged.Yak!! The savoury muffins @ Bunbury Dome are absolutely disgusting... why? they come in frozen and end up like stodgy rock.
Avoid.... there's plenty of Cafes that spend their time to serve customers with freshly made/baked food.
We deserve to be served fresh!

Max those are valid points. I have never tried their muffins, only ordered off the menu, and they get that right on the most half. Thanks for the feedback!
