Located in the Hills District of Greater Sydney, Dural still has that country feel with its openness and community spirit and nestled within is this wonderful patisserie I ventured to on the weekend for a coffee and pastry with a friend. As I entered the premises, it was clear this was a very popular business with only one vacant table left on a Sunday morning and others lining up to take away their delights.

is three years young and already plenty of framed awards adorn one of the walls of this cafe/shop that serves Italian and French hand-crafted cakes and pastries, macarons, muffins, breads, pies and lunchtime meals, as well as gelato. I tried the amazing pistachio and almond croissant pastry (above) and it was to die for. My friend had the delectable award winning Ricotta Cornetto (below), which I also had a taste of. Very nice.

This business was created by wife Bianca and Head Chef Francesco Gulisano, an Italian boy who grew up in Dural on a flower farm and later worked in a restaurant where his passion for hospitality and baking took over. The best ingredients and quality go into the making of all their products that endeavour to take your taste buds on a delicious journey.

Selling direct to the public, both online and in the shop, they also sell wholesale to businesses and cater for special occasions, such as weddings and christenings. This wonderful croquembouche was waiting to be picked up by a customer. These French creations come in different sizes with an array of profiteroles and different fillings, along with colours to match your party theme.

With wedding cakes and bombonniere, you can book in for a tasting session and help to put together your own flavours and unique creations. Make that one of a kind sweet sensation for your special day.

So many colourful individual desserts to catch your eye, you wish you could buy the whole shop. The desserts are ever-changing and this Strawberry Kiss beckoned me to open my wallet. Filled with rolled cake and jam, custard in the middle, strawberries on top and a white chocolate heart, this exquisite dessert more than lived up to the eyes.

The larger cakes on display are equally enticing. There's a Toffee Apple Cheesecake, Snickers My Way cake with a peanut butter crunch base, chocolate mousse, nougat layer and salted caramel crème top, and Lamin n Jamin with vanilla sponge, coconut white chocolate mousse and crème, raspberry gelee and chocolate soaking syrup.

Christmas logs can also be purchased, with the Strawberries and Watermelon Log looking like it should have my name on it. Hop on down to the shop to see their other creations. There's also some spectacular photos of cakes on the website under the Products tab.
