If, while strolling along the West Village, your steps lead you to a bright red awning that reads, dolce Vizio Tiramisu and the words, "Tiramisu Bar" along the building's side windows, you're likely to do a double take—followed by a long glance or two into the storefront—just to make sure you're not imagining things. After all, you've heard of a sundae bar and a wine bar—but, it's not every day you chance upon a Tiramisu bar and cafe.
dolce Vizio is dedicated to serving one item on their menu - Tiramisu.
Thankfully your eyes will not have deceived you. Indeed, your latest find happens to be the first venue of its kind in New York. Co-owners, Nadia Tade and Alessandro Radici's love for the Italian dessert served as the inspiration for their novel idea.
And under the guidance of Michelin-starred Chef Fabrizio Ferrari, the co-owners are purveyors of the traditional version, as well as flavors with delightful ingredients, such as Nutella, mango and raspberry. For a touch of liquer—there's the Limoncello and lemon zest, or the Orange Espresso flavor with orange zest and Borghetti Caffe Sport liquer.
For $7, order a single portion of the classic flavor—which consists of Mascarpone cheese, yolks, sugar, heavy cream, and of course, ladyfingers—with a dusting of cocoa powder. For the more adventurous, build your own by selecting ladyfingers soaked in one of three sauces—citrus or chocolate, or mint syrup. Then, pick two toppings from among 10 options—Amaretti, granola, forest berries, dry pineapple or coconut, mixed nuts, strawberries, dark chocolate curls or apricots.
Accompany your dessert or midday snack with an array of hot or cold beverages, including brewed coffee, lattes, Cappuccino, espresso or teas. Take a sip, and savor another spoonful. Relish how the chocolate syrup-soaked ladyfingers blend well with sweet strawberries—with just the right texture from the dry coconut shavings.
Delightful custom creation topped with coconut shavings.
