Do you or have you ever had a special animal in your life? Someone who loves you unconditionally and is always waiting for you with a waggy tail when you get home?

Whether you have now and once had a furbaby that brings you joy, Dogs: a story of our best friend at the South Australia Museum from 29 November 2019 from 10 am to 5 pm daily is sure to be an exhibition to make your heart sing.

Dogs: a story of our best friend, explores the history of dogs from a scientific/cultural perspective and asks the question, how did they evolve from wolves to our playful pals?

You will learn about dogs from popular culture such as Snoopy and Lassie and look at a wide selection of dog skeletons. There will be digital interactives explaining variations in skull shape and if you are looking for a new furbaby, tools to help you select the best dog to match your lifestyle.

Take a moment and watch short films highlighting the special bond between owners and their dogs, and see exclusive illustrations of different breeds and historical and contemporary representations of dogs.

This exhibition is designed for all ages however there is lots of fun specifically for kids to enjoy. They can get a sense of a dog's life when they play in the dog kennel and crawl through the doggy door. They will find fun facts on text panels, explore the activity trail and can take a selfie in the farm scene. There are also plush dogs available to purchase in the Museum Shop to take home and which they can place on the puppy runway and scan its tag to unleash facts unique to that dog.
