Life is about the journey - some roads are not always what they seem but you sure learn a great deal from them!

When I was in New York, I could not help but trial the famous hot dog from the hot dog stands. It was better than what I had seen on TV! However, to find a venue that offers a true American hot dog is very rare.
I came across Doghouse Café while travelling through Welshpool. I think the name first caught my eye, and then the words 'hot dog'. I am always willing to try something new, and if it is very good, go back for seconds.
Doghouse Cafe was very clean and tidy with very impressionable staff. Apart from hot dogs, they also offered doughnuts and coffee. I soon learnt that everything in the Doghouse Café is made from scratch. There is no quick doughnut mix for the doughnuts. It is the age old recipe of how doughnuts should be made.
The hot dog sausages are also made from scratch. Steve, the owner, believes in quality and invests his time in ensuring his customer get the perfect hot dog, coffee, or doughnut. Of course, the hot dog was on my list to purchase, but it really made it hard when I saw they had coffee and doughnuts.
After sinking my teeth into the freshly made hot dog I was taken "back to the future" to that little moment in New York where I was standing just outside Central Park with a hot dog in my hand, and watching the hustle and bustle around me. Of course, the coffee was made in the same way, and for a short moment I was experiencing New York all over again. It was truly amazing.
Look out for the this sign...for amazing Hot Dogs and more!
Doghouse Cafe is open Monday to Friday from 6am to 3:00 pm. The drive through is great for busy people, which means you can get a taste of New York and still be back on the road within minutes. They are also open on Saturday for lunch, so of you are ever in this part town, you will truly enjoy a stop at the Doghouse Cafe.
