Everyone needs a holiday sometimes, but as tempting as it is to take man's best friend along on your travels, that's not always possible. In those cases, you need to find a trustworthy boarding kennel to look after your dog while you're away.

If you're going to relax on your holiday, you need to know your dog will be well looked after.

There are plenty of different boarding facilities to choose from across Sydney, so take a few simple steps to ensure you choose the best kennel for your canine companion.

Choosing The Right Kennel
Once you've Googled a few possible kennels in your local area, the first thing to do is to take a tour of any kennel you're considering sending your dog to. Phone ahead to see if they're happy to let you have a look around; if they don't offer tours of the facility, can you really trust them to look after your dog.

When touring a boarding facility, take note of the level of cleanliness, how the kennels smell, how much space the dogs have and the attitude of the staff towards the animals. Ask questions about when/what/how much your pooch will be fed, how much exercise he'll get, and whether the staff will be able to take care of any medication needs. Another factor to consider is whether you'll be able to bring your pet's own bedding and toys.

Cost is also going to influence your decision. Just remember that, though one kennel may cost more than the next, there is often a pretty good reason for the increased price. When it comes to kennels, just like anything in life, you get what you pay for.

Once you've found the right kennel you can relax on your holiday, safe in the knowledge that your pooch is being well looked after.
