The park is located at the end of Newbury Place, Carindale, but can be easily accessed via Cribb Rd. Not only is it immaculately presented, it also offers the functionality of two fully fenced sections; one for dogs small in stature and the other for the bigger bruisers.
The equipment does look great and is definitely a draw card (especially for the kids) but it's also highly practical and good fun for your dog. A gazebo provides seating but a bit more shade would be nice.
Conveniently, the Bulimba Creek Bikeway runs adjacent to Heroes and it's easy to combine a visit to the dog park with a scenic ride or walk.
Carindale Recreation Reserve
Set in the sprawling surrounds of Carindale Recreation Reserve, this off leash area is a bit underwhelming. It's big enough, without being huge, but sits on a reasonably steep grassed area better suited to mountain goats. Hard to believe the town planners couldn't have found a better site within the Reserve somewhere.
The dog park area is best accessed via Bedivere Rd. Beware of the narrow driveway when you turn into the Reserve, it's barely wide enough for 2 cars and always seems pretty busy. You can usually nab a car park right near the off leash area though.
No agility equipment or gazebo is offered within the dog park, but overhanging trees provide a good amount of shade. There is a basket of toys presumably donated by regular users to keep your best mate entertained.
Carindale Recreation Reserve offers an array of other activities including a fun-filled playground, bike paths connecting to the Bulimba Creek Bikeway, fitness equipment and plenty of grassed open spaces. It is one of the few Brisbane parks that even has free Brisbane City Council wifi.
Tones Rd Park is set within a green belt of the family friendly suburb of Mansfield and includes a large, fully fenced off leash area. The park is located at the top of Tones Rd, located just off Wecker Rd. Only a small carpark is on offer, but plenty of street parking is available.
There's plenty of room for a good run around or game of fetch to burn off a bit of that canine exuberance. An added bonus is the permanent agility course set up to test your dog's skillset. It may not be as aesthetically pleasing as Heroes, but it does offer your dog a great physical and mental workout.
Tones Rd Park also includes a fairly decent playground and grassed area for the kids. Like Heroes and Carindale Recreation Reserve, it's really close to entry points to the Bulimba Creek Bikeway so combining a visit to the dog park with a scenic ride or walk is easy.
