A café for dogs? Yes, that's right a café that is 100% dog friendly.

It's at the rear of 120 Boronia Road in Boronia.

Many cafes have a bowl of water near their entrance for your pooch, leaving them outside while you enjoy your coffee inside. At The Dog Café, you can take your canine friend into the café with you. It is semi-enclosed under open-sided tent-like structures.

The café caters for man and beast alike, or to be politically correct, woman and beast alike as well.

The furbabies, as they call their four legged customers, have their own menu. Treats such as carob paws, bacon & cheese mega bones, doughnuts, sparkle bones and cake pops.

If your friend needs a coffee fix, three sizes of puppacinos are available.

For the two legged patrons, you can have teas, coffees or hot chocolate. Cakes, slices, toasted sandwiches and other goodies are available. I had a cappuccino and a cherry slice, both delicious.

I think I was the only person there without a dog but I didn't feel left out as I chatted to the doggie owners. One couple I spoke to came all the way from Berwick to experience The Dog Café and said they would certainly return.

Peter, the owner, barista and waiter, was flat out tending to his coffee machine and his two and four legged customers.

There was a play area to keep the small two legged people amused while the grown-ups and doggies enjoyed the atmosphere.

On many of my walks, I have met people walking their dogs and most were of more mature years, so it was pleasing to note that many of the dog owners at The Dog Café were of the younger age group, all loving their furbabies.

It's definitely a leash on area but that didn't stop many of the four legged customers from interacting with their fellow canines.

There was even a resident doggie, watching from his kennel.

Not a bark in anger was heard. Although one small long doggie did bark at me, but I think it was because I called him a ferret. I apologised and a pat and a lick were exchanged.

I arrived with my camera and no dog but was still welcome. So will you be, with or without a doggie? There is a car park behind the shops and close to the café.
