A picturesque and unique park just minutes from the city, is an ideal venue for a picnic with a difference. Dominated by the impressive Blowhole sculpture, the ecologically sustainable park boasts artworks and natural features which are an easy talking point for the friends that you decide to share your picnic with.
There are several locations in the park where you can settle with a chequered rug and some snacks. You can perch up on the grassy hill, claim the area in the centre of the circular swing set, or ascend up the set of brightly coloured stairs to a platform.
There's no chance of getting bored at if you have a sense of fun, with the playground equipment being decidedly untraditional. There is a rotating ring perfect for many park-goers to sit on in the centre of a sandpit, a multitude of swings arranged in a circle for more social play, and a stand-and-spin. Just make sure you don't go too fast on the rotating play equipment too soon after lunch. If you fall off though, not to worry - the ground is covered in rubber safety surfacing to absorb impact. When the sun goes down; rug up, sit on top of the hill and watch the stars and city lights.

Lining the park is a walking and cycling path that takes you past the playground to see native Australian fauna and local wildlife, all whilst keeping sight of the city's skyline close by.

is definitely worth a visit, whether you appreciate the aesthetic appeal of the artwork, or are puzzled by the strange designs. It is also different every time, with the Blowhole sculpture being responsive to external conditions. Its arms rotate with the breeze and catch sound, so on a windy day you will see it in full action, whereas on a still day it is static. Remember to take your camera so you can snap plenty of photos. The vertical metallic rings that adorn the lawn are perfect for striking a pose in.

is accessible from the city by the 70 tram , or a short walk from Southern Cross Station. It also includes toilet and barbecue facilities, which are incorporated into the unique design of the park.
