Looking for ways to celebrate winter in Melbourne?
Then head on down to Docklands this July for the Firelight Festival from Wednesday 21 July to Sunday 25 July. This family-friendly event was cancelled in 2020 due to COVID-19 and would have suffered the same fate without the pandemic being controlled and investment from the City of Melbourne and the Victorian Government.
The five-day event is known for its flame jets, fire twirlers and flaming sculptures. Highlights of this year's event include:
Giant flame sculptures in the shape of a Phoenix and a Deer
Flame jets and fire cauldrons running the length of New Quay Promenade and Victoria Promenade
Nightly liquid, light and laser shows presented by Development Victoria
Fire performers, twirlers and a flaming blunderbuss to warm up the crowd
Live musical performances and entertainment including Cope Street Parade, Vardos, Lola Lovina, The Whiskey Drifters and many more.
The festival will run from 5:30pm to 10pm on Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday, and from 5:30pm to 10:30pm on Friday and Saturday. Do note that you will require tickets to attend and capacity limits are 3,500 people at New Quay Promenade and 4,500 at Victoria Promenade.
In addition, you can make use of the Docklands Dollars program to redeem up to $210 cashback when you stay, eat and play in Docklands during the festival. Up to $40,000 of Docklands Dollars will be up for grabs every Thursday at midday until 22 July.
Best of all, it's free to attend. So grab your family and join in the fun as Firelight Festival lights up Docklands this July.
