s was officially opened on 30 September 2017. claimed itself as the freshest, most local, produce at the best price. This farmers' market is not only selling the best and freshest fruits and veg from local farmers but also sells fresh flowers and has a big range of products in their nursery.





As you enter you can see rows and rows of fruits and vegetables. The aisle is very wide and the place very clean. You can buy in bulk – of course with a special price or individual item. Doblo's motto is "Local Ol' fashion service" and there were plenty of smiles from their staff. Another thing that we noticed is you could find more varieties of fruits and veg here compared to the big chain supermarkets.





Dominic Doblo's family have been in the fruit and vegetable selling business for over a century since Mr Doblo's great-grandfather moved to the Rockhampton area in the early 20th century. Now, Mr Doblo's son Dominic Jr manages the day-to-day running of the business with about 20 staff. The Doblos are big supporters of the local community, including sponsoring events like the Rockhampton Show.



started in 2016 when Mr Dominic Doblo was looking for a cheap place to store his landscaping gear – at that time he was in landscaping. He then found this block of land that led him to another path.



At first, he was going to park his landscaping gear and sold a few plants, but there wasn't much interest in it until he started selling a bit of fruit. It went berserk because that's what people wanted. Mr Doblo and the family found their feet and the market grew fast.



With their overheads low – because 70 percent of his fruit came directly from the growing areas such as Bowen and Bundaberg and southern areas like Stanthorpe in the summer, Doblo's fruit and vegetables were much cheaper than their competitors.
