Djuki Mala, formerly known as The Chooky Dancers, have been a global sensation ever since a clip of their unique version of Zorba the Greek, which had been created as a joyful thank you, was uploaded in 2007. They've been creating new work and touring nationally and internationally ever since.
As Yolngu people, their identity is always in the foreground but they fuse traditional and contemporary forms of dance, which they imbue with a comedic element that has its origins in Yolngu culture as much as traditional dance does.
