Djindoon Djenung at Wadjemup is a FREE event held on two Fridays from 5.15 to 6.45pm AWST on 11 June and 2 July 2021. REGISTER HERE to journey to Rottnest Island for a beautiful evening of stargazing and Dreamtime storytelling.
Join award-winning Noongar guide Walter McGuire this Djeran and Makuru. Travel to Thomson Bay and settle in as Walter shares traditional Dreamtime stories that tell of the moon and the stars beneath the backdrop of a beautiful night sky. The evening will start at 5.15pm with a Welcome to Country, followed by a traditional Sand or Water Ceremony at the ocean's edge to honour and pay respect to the Noongar Ancestors before the storytelling begins.
Then Djindoon Djenung, look to the stars, to explore the night sky with Walter's guidance and insight into Aboriginal astronomy and culture. Your evening concludes with a smoking ceremony, said to bring blessings, healing and connection to country.
Make a day of it and arrive early prior to the event and return on a late department at 7.15pm to Fremantle with Rottnest Express.
