Djila Tjarri - Play and Skate Space (pronounced 'jilla jari' and is the Wathaurong word for 'play') is an all-ages playground and skate park.

On the playground side, there is a twirly tube slide, a smaller slide, swings suitable for babies through to big kids, climbing ropes of all sorts, a rock climbing wall, a musical tyre to jump on and more. Shoes should be kicked off, as there is soft sand underfoot to wriggle your toes in and plus, you are in Torquay, it is almost mandatory. Part of this playground is also undercover with tables, benches and BBQs.

The skate park is perfect for scooters, blades and skateboards. There is a huge bowl, 12 foot in the deepest part and 7 foot in the shallowest area… it is pretty huge. There are also plenty of little up and down slopes for the less confident or for getting some speed up and trying some 'epic' tricks. There are rails, boxes and stairs and the surface is super smooth.

Next door, you have ovals for kicking the ball or playing with the dog. There are toilets and a water tap at the park. The Dunes shopping centre is a short stroll or scoot down the road with El Nido cafe, Woolworths, Baker's Delight and more for any emergency hunger or caffeine needs.

The only word of warning would be to avoid windy days, when it is a little windy everywhere else, you will get blown away like Dorothy's house at this particular park.

Otherwise, the only other trouble you will have is getting everyone to leave!
