You'll never look at Disney the same way again
With a click of steel-capped heels and a swig of Emu Export, the Hairy Godmother has arrived at Perth Fringe World 2023, bringing an entourage of 'Dizney' favourites for a fairytale you won't forget in a hurry.

Dizney in Drag: Once Upon a Parody is a hilarious, strictly adults-only take on our childhood favourite movies and their famous musical numbers that will ensure you never think about Disney the same way again.

It's Disney. It's Drag. It's a nostalgic trip down memory lane with parody, music, dance and a little bit of audience participation sprinkled throughout. It's everything you could want in a Fringe World show and more, created by a talented cast of Perth performers.

It all starts with a Once Upon a Time and welcoming number 'Be Our Guest' to give you a little taste of the entertaining chaos to come. We meet our sweet androgynous hero on the lookout for their True Love - one who fits the dainty glass slipper - and are introduced to the Hairy Godmother. This bearded, quick-witted guiding light sports a huge pink wig and an ability to hide various items under a massive hoop dress, including an endless supply of 'Bush Chook' cans.

Our hero's first stop with the glass slipper is Ariel, the Little Mermaid who wants to be Part of 'That' World - as a dominatrix, that is. And boy, does she want to do some crazy things.

We meet an imposing and self-assured Snow White, who takes a fancy to Allen in the front row. Note to guests - don't sit in the front row if you don't want Snow White sitting on your knee.

Snow White 'Just Can't Wait to be Queen' and relies on her Three Dwarves for daily assistance. Yep, there are four missing, so you know what that means - more audience participation! Our show had eight dwarves in the end because the more the merrier.

Behind the hilarity and chaos sits an important message about consent, which is something the Disney films of old such as Snow White and Sleeping Beauty lacked. Kissing a sleeping/poisoned/unconscious princess? Certainly not in 2023, thank you very much!

The message is further backed by a forever juvenile Pan ('Pansexual' of course) and the accompanying Never Never Band, who give Mulan's 'I'll Make a Man Out of You' a modern makeover, encouraging men to embrace their feminine side and basically teach our boys a bit of respect when it comes to how they treat girls.

Back to the fairy tale, where we find Pocahontas and a Singing Tree, who belts out a corker in 'Colour of Your Minge' and will have you in stitches.

Through 'A Whole New World', our hero and Princess Jasmine navigate the world of online dating and dating apps before the show reaches a laugh-out-loud conclusion in which you will never ever view Beauty and the Beast's Gaston through the same eyes again.

Dizney in Drag: Once Upon a Parody is unapologetically 'Old School Only', meaning no 'recent' Disney songs. Sorry Gen Z! Come along and learn the songs us Millennials grew up with, albeit with a naughty, modernised twist.

Stick around for a photo with the cast!

So does our hero find their one True Love and the one who fits the glass slipper, just like in the movies? How about heading along to the show to see for yourself? It's a show for anyone who loves Disney yet doesn't take the brand too seriously to enjoy a genuinely funny parody. Tickets are on sale now via the Fringe World website.

Stick around at the end to get a photo with the cast to top off a truly captivating night of comedy at Perth Fringe World. You'll be singing those twisted Dizney songs for days after while trying to fit a six pack of Bush Chook up your best Sunday frock.
