The Indian Society of WA (ISWA) bring you Diwali Mela - Festival of India over 3 huge days (1, 2, 3 Nov 2019 from 3pm to 9.30pm) at Claremont Showground, 1 Graylands Rd, Claremont. This is an event that attracts around 50,000 people to this smoke and alcohol-free, family-friendly event. Entry is FREE.

There'll be food stalls serving up authentic Indian cuisine with a variety to suit everyone. Plus there'll be market stalls with traditional Indian clothing, henna services, spiritual stalls and more. A number of Indian Entrepreneurs and Banking and Mortgage entities will be there offering their services. Magician Steve Silk will be amongst the entertainment. After a recent talent hunt, you'll see the best of the best in a cultural program that includes live bands, songs, dances and performances for all ages by Indian and multicultural artists.

This event will conclude with a Ramayana Drama & Dance in English on 3rd November 2019. Also for the first time ever in Perth on the same day (3 Nov), don't miss the Ravana Dahan effigy.

Ravana Dahan Effigy

There'll be a ritual burning of Demon King Ravana on Sun 3 Nov 2019, representing the victory of good over evil. A moment that commemorates the day Lord Rama killed Ravana. An extravagant display of fireworks ensue at this spectacular event at 8.30pm each day.

There's a drive to be more environmentally conscious by working at avoiding the use of single-use plastic bags. Bringing along your own reusable bags for the goodies you buy and keep cups for your drinks and cutlery for your food would be a start. With a footprint of thousands attending this event, let's all work at reducing waste and being environmental and sustainability conscious. Stay tuned and updated via the Facebook page.
