Don your favourite sparkling sari, put your hand up for a
free henna tattoo and admire the festival fireworks display at this ever popular multi cultural celebration. All are welcome to participate in The Festival of Lights (
Diwali) in Brisbane's Chinatown Mall on October 26th, 2013.
Diwali or Divali is an important Hindu festival traditionally celebrated in many countries, such as India, Fiji, Malaysia, Nepal, Singapore, and Sri Lanka.
Diwali translates as "row of lamps" and these are symbolically lit during the festival to signify the triumph of good over evil. The five day festival is also a time to share sweet treats with family and friends, and for many Indian farmers, it marks the end of the busy harvest season. Here in Brisbane, we will celebrate Diwali with a fun filled, colourful evening of
free entertainment in Chinatown Mall.
