A free celebration of multiculturalism under the stars

Dive into Brisbane's incredible cultural diversity with the grand finale event of Queensland Multiculturalism Month 2017 - Diversity@Dusk - a FREE, all-ages celebration of international music, art, culture and cuisine with live performances and market stalls in the heart of Brisbane CBD.

Held on Friday 1st of September, 2017 from 4pm, all are welcome to this vibrant community event under the stars which is proudly presented by BEMAC and Access, and supported by the Queensland Government.

During the afternoon, the city itself will be celebrating the many cultures that make up our communities, and the harmony and inclusion that have deepened throughout Queensland Multiculturalism Month with the lighting up the Story Bridge and Casino in the colours of Diversity@Dusk.

Come down to Reddacliff Place with your family and friends and experience the pounding rhythms of Africa, the sweet sounds of the Middle East, exotic India, the vibrant colour of the Pacific Islands, the dance of the Chinese dragon and everything in-between. You can also enjoy a FREE international massage, get your eyebrows threaded, a henna tattoo and your name in Chinese calligraphy.

Diversity@Dusk's dynamic line-up of Brisbane's finest musicians includes:

Established by Iranian vocalist Shirin Majd in 2000, Sweet Sound aspires to create a fusion of musical culture. With unique interpretations of well-known Western classical and Iranian folk music, Sweet Sound achieves an exquisite fusion that takes audiences on a journey through diverse musical traditions.

Dance Masala seeks to pay homage to Indian culture by excelling in Bollywood dance. Dance Masala's mission is to create inspiring fusion, while actively engaging in classical roots of Bollywood and the influence of regional specific folk-dance.

Born in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, Tichawona Noble is one of the most imaginative and captivating musicians emerging from Africa today. His music embraces the deepest traditions of Mbira and Nyunga-Nyunga (thumb piano) as well as the feverish dance groove of the African Metropolis.

Greshka is a lively five-piece gypsy band formed in 2009 to liven up the atmosphere and get feet moving. The band plays a modern concoction of upbeat yiddish, drunken umpahs of Russia and the complexities of the Balkans, with a touch of rock and a dash of jazz. The line-up is comprised of soprano saxophone, trumpet, alto and baritone saxophone, double bass and percussion.

Get ready to be enthralled by Cook Islands Cultural Dance Group, which was formed and has been led by Peter Kaisara since 2003. Experience a fascinating mix of Polynesian inheritance through genuine chants, songs, legends and lively drums. They have performed for a variety of multicultural events and have delighted audience all over Brisbane.

Diversity@Dusk will take place at Reddacliff Place on Friday, 1st September from 4pm to 7.30pm. For more information on what's on, please visit, and
