While winter may typically result in a quieter time for partygoers to be out and about, a welcoming and hotspot like Distill makes the fun and thrill of being out on the chillier nights thoroughly enjoyable and satisfying. There was no better night to stay in than the stormy weather that swept through our state last night, and yet, my decision to head to the Distill relaunch was so worth the venture out to town, amidst the gusty winds and the downpour of rain!

Reclaiming its title of being Adelaide's premier cocktail lounge along the East End precinct, Distill is now open under new management, thanks to 26-year-old entrepreneur and owner Steven Giles, and it is bringing some serious heat through their electric atmosphere and awesome drink specials that are offered by this renovated space from Wednesdays - Sundays."Distill was love at first sight for me - the previous owners did an excellent job to create such an iconic venue in the East End, but as with any new business, there's always a huge list of ideas to evolve." - Steven Giles (owner, Distill)

The establishment has been known to be a one-stop-shop for a sophisticated and eclectic form of nightlife entertainment and since its revamp, the two-story bar and nightclub, which accommodates just over 100 people at a time, has become an attractive spot for customers to kick back and relax with some delicious options of drinks on the menu.

Walk into the dimly lit bar area and you'll be delighted to find a contemporary and modern space that is designed to offer patrons with minimalistic yet rustic elements through its décor details.

On the right-hand side, you'll find a bunch of booths that have been set up for a more intimate feel - ideal if you are out on a date or are after a low-key night out with friends. In the centre, there's an open floor plan that can transform into the dance floor in a flash, thanks to the sick tunes played by the resident DJs that can play a tantalizing mix of the songs from the golden years; all the way to the present day hits.

On the left-hand side is the grand bar that is stocked with all the essentials to warm up the soul and the belly on a particularly frosty night out. The space offers a moody ambience that exudes with a level of charm that is unparalleled to most clubs.

Offering a competitive watering hole of premium local and imported craft beers, regional wines, and hand-crafted cocktails, owner Giles, venue manager Richard Chao, and his staff have collaborated to create a social environment that will attract their patrons to indulge in nothing but the best in the bar scene.

As part of the relaunch celebrations, guests were invited to get a taster of the beers, wines, and cocktails on offer. For cocktails, we were treated to an exquisite selection of a Burberry, a South Side, and an Espresso Martini.

As a girl who drinks cocktails or nada, I tried the Burberry to start off the night. Not (initially) knowing the ingredients of this very attractive drink, my tastebuds were surprised with a burst of flavours that were sweet yet insanely strong. Bringing together a playful mix of Joseph Cartron Crème De Mûre Des Roncières (wild blackberry liqueur), blueberry syrup, and fresh mint served with soda, the Burberry proved to be a punchy, fruity, all-rounder of a drink. Sipping on the Burberry in little bursts provided with a much-needed buzz to kickstart the festivities of the night and got the social butterfly within to cocoon and blossom gracefully in no time!

The Gin lover in me was excited to see the classic South Side on the menu, which was a drink that I first tried when I was in NYC a couple of years ago and have since had nostalgic and pleasing memories of my time in my favourite city in the world. Funnily enough, this drink was conceived around the Prohibition era in New York, so it was a drink I simply couldn't go past. Packed with the aromatic flavours of Bombay Sapphire Gin, lime, sugar, and mint and topped off with a slice of dried lemon, the South Side was brilliantly executed in its classy presentation and was super easy (not to mention smooth!) to drink, had a great balance of sweet (from the sugar) and sour (from the lime), boasted of a high level of freshness (thanks to the mint leaves), and offered a fun and flirtatious twist to the overall vibe of the night.

The Espresso Martini is a classic hump day drink that combined Zubrowka vodka, Mr. Black liqueur, and espresso together effortlessly. It is, hands down, one of the creamiest Espresso Martinis that I've had to date. I will never forget this interesting and rather fun piece of trivia that I recently learned about the history of this delicious drink - it was a drink that was concocted upon the request by Dick Bradsell, who asked for a drink that would "wake me up and f**k me up" - and boy oh boy, did it wake me up and (fortunately), I was able to avoid the latter! Having said that, after enjoying nearly 4 Espresso Martinis last night, I am still revelling in the velvety smooth and silky texture, the nutty taste, and the level of subtlety of the caffeine flavour that made this drink the star of the night. If I had stayed longer, I probably could've danced the night away, because I was bursting with energy for hours after I had left the bar!

Complementing our drinks, we were treated to a share platter of nibbles, which was packed with a range of delectable items, such as beetroot dip, hummus, olives, charcuterie meats (salami and pepperoni), a range of cheese (vintage cheddar and soft brie), dried fruit and nuts, and gourmet crackers. Not only is it a great appetizer to enjoy with your drinks, but it is also a fantastic dish to keep the conversation flowing with ease.

Distill has also collaborated with Fresh 92.7 to offer customers with a new way to party - Every Day's The Weekend by offering their venue as the official after-party site for Fresh 92.7's weekly Windback Wednesday.

Wednesday night's at Distill will be nothing but indie tunes, cool vibes and Coopers on tap – the University and hospitality crowd, who are looking for some hump day fun! - Steven Giles (owner, Distill)

They will also be running regular drink specials, which will include $6 Vodkas, $6 Gins, $7 Sailor Jerrys, $20 beer jugs, and $7 wines via Knock Offs from 4:30pm every Friday and will get their patrons tapping their feet in no time, thanks to the resident RnB DJs hitting the decks upstairs over the weekend.

Last night's relaunch of Distill highlights the Adelaide venue as one that ought to be highly ranked for its entertainment facilities - from a relaxed dining and drinking scene by the bar to an electrifying night club experience thanks to their resident DJs, to a grand option of hosting private functions in a hassle-free manner, a Distill experience is one that is elegant, exquisite, and oh so exclusive and it demands the recognition of being subtly stylish with a generous serve of substance through their services on offer.

So, put on your most glamorous outfit, polish off those dancing shoes, and get yourselves and your mates to Distill, where you can experience a sensual nightlife community that is spread across this two-storied venue along Rundle Street and prepare yourselves to dance the night away!
