Disney On Ice 's
Magical Ice Festival is an event no child should miss out on. It's a time to dress up and have a magical family time to later store away as a sweet memory that'll always be a part of family traditions and childhood. The live show is such a breath of fresh air in this technologically impregnated age. Be prepared to spend up as there are the usual temptations of show merchandise, food and beverages that every little kid wants, and a program to collect and reminisce over after the show.
With just 4 days of shows remaining (2 - 5 July 2016), get your
TICKETS HERE . To peruse detailed showtimes, ticket pricing and additional discount showtimes (marked with an asterisk),

If you're one of the families who get the chance to grab the opportunity of the front row ($86.50), you're in for a treat. The whole show will be an unforgettable up front and personal experience. It'll feel like the performers are dancing just for you, coming up close, waving, saying hello and giving you their magical smiles. You'll even get a handshake or a close up wave at the end of the show.
Obviously the next best seats are the VIPs at $59.50 with A and B Reserve coming in at $48.50 and $34.50.
When you're lost in the story and magic of the show, it's easy to forget the skills and strength required by the performers on the ice. They swish and swirl, twirl and lift, and magically stop on cue. Not being a skater, watching them walk up and down stairs on those blades beneath their feet, filled me with wonder.
The minimal staging and props did their job to give you the illusion of that magical world that is Disney, without encroaching too much on the space of the ice rink, required by the performers. Sets changed and came and went with precision between performances.
A lover of puppets and marionettes, I
absolutely adored grumpy looking
Maximus , the horse from Disney's
Tangled ; a threat to Flynn Rider had Rapunzel not intervened. He was just as magnificent on ice as he was on the screen. The other was
Sven the pet reindeer and companion of Kristoff from Disney's
Frozen . I'd like to take them home please.
The images here just give you a small sense of being there at the
Rod Laver Arena , but the video below gives you a true and accurate presentation of the show itself. Start booking now with limited show dates left in Melbourne. You can check out the
precinct map of the Rod Laver Arena but I personally found public transport was the best way to travel. Even though the kids won't appreciate it as much, the walk to the arena from the
Richmond train station gives you a chance to see the architectural structures of
AAMI Park and
Hisense Arena up close.

FAQ sheet which has details of show running times and what is allowed or not in regard to filming, cameras, food and beverage etc.
