Celebrating 100 Years of Magic
To celebrate Disney on Ice's 100 Years of Magic, I laced up my skates at Acacia Ridge Iceworld on Wednesday 9th May and attended the launch event. As I entered the cold rink, the excitement was palpable as youngsters, many dressed in princess costumes and crowns, eagerly exchanged their shoes for skates.
Fifteen young figure skaters in stunning costumes were gliding effortlessly over the ice while Shelley Craft, Disney on Ice Ambassador, greeted guests.
My memories of the bubbly Shelley Craft date back to Saturday Disney. With her passion for Disney, Shelley Craft is the perfect ambassador. She has since hosted other shows including Australia's Funniest Home Video Show, Domestic Blitz and The Block.
The event began with two amazing performances by a couple of the young figure skaters. The troupe will perform pre-show at Disney on Ice on Saturday 30 June at 5.30pm.
As Frozen's "Let it Go" played, I let my inner Disney child out. This was as much fun for me as it was for the little children. Skating alongside Shelly Craft and Nick Fernandez while listening to Disney music was an absolute delight.
After a morning of skating, guests were invited into the cafe to enjoy a morning tea of cupcakes and fruit. Children were kept entertained with Disney colouring pages.
Disney on Ice is skating into Brisbane Friday 29 June until 2 July 2018. The dazzling ice-skating spectacular will feature more than 14 tales including Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Beauty and the Best, Finding Nemo, Frozen, The Lion King and Toy Story.
Mickey Mouse will lead beloved favourites including Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy and and an ensemble of Disney Princesses.
