Terry Pratchett's immensely popular series of books set on a Discworld have devoted but lovely fans all around the world. Brisbane Pratchett fans have decided to give locals an experience of the Discworld with Hogswatch in July. This is the second year running they have held this event.

For the uninitiated, the Discworld is a magical world which is flat and rests on the backs of four elephants who are standing on the shell of a giant turtle. Obviously in a universe where there are many similar worlds floating through space, there is the important scientific question to determine which sex the turtle is. Should two giant turtles happen to meet this will be important to know. On the Discworld they call this the big bang theory.

On the Discworld they even have their own version of Christmas called Hogswatch. Being Australia it makes sense that we have Hogswatch in July.

This family friendly event will be held in Hardgrave park, Milton, where you can experience the Disworld, including Sausage in a bun from C.M.O.T, cosplay, dancers, games for all ages and I believe assassins for hire.

Cosplaying your favourite Discworld characters will be encouraged by a costume competition. You can also pick up costumes on the day.

To top it all off, the Hogsfather will of course make an appearance.

There will also be markets, bake sale, kids crafts as well as food and coffee vendors.
