A museum of wonders
Ancient Egypt has often enchanted people for yours. There are thousands of years of history, and that doesn't even cover the pop culture references from recent years. And if you're into Ancient Egypt, you will want to head to the WA Museum Boola Bardip Discovering Ancient Egypt
while you still can. There are only a few days of this incredible exhibit left and it is amazing when you step into the world of Ancient Egypt.
Before you start, you can get yourself an audio guide so you can learn all about the pieces. But if you don't want to, you aren't forced to take one, you can still enjoy the exhibit. There are lots of descriptions on the walls that you can read and learn about them as you go.
As you step inside, you watch a short, three-minute video. It covers the basic history of Ancient Egypt and then you find yourself inside the exhibit itself. You will discover the amazing artefacts that have survived for thousands of yours. there are simple cups, jewellery and tokens to the Gods. There are pages from the Book of the Dead, and other manuscripts as well as art, shabtis and amulets. There are scarabs, and depictions of Horus, Isis and other Gods.
Then, in the next room, you will find the artefacts that you really want to see. There are coffins that have been carefully painted by the loved ones and priests who took care of the dead. You will see a hook that removed brains from the bodies too! Then you will also find mummified animals, as well as human mummies. You will find X-rays and CT Scans that show what the mummies look like under the thin gauze bandages. If you are uncomfortable with being near human bodies, you don't have to go into the room. It is set up so that the bodies are in a different room and you don't have to go in if you don't want.
This is a really incredible exhibit, coming all the way from the Netherlands. It's only $20 for a standard ticket, but you don't get to enter the other parts of the museum with just that ticket. There is another charge to go see the other exhibits. There is also a gift shop, full of wonderful gifts for either yourself or loved ones. Some of the items are Egyptian-themed, while others are not.
If you do even have a passing interest in Ancient Egypt, you still have a couple of days to visit the exhibit before it goes home. The exhibit has to end by Sunday, the 8th of October. You can book online so you don't have to wait in line, and if you're an RAC member, use the code RAC15 for a 15% discount.
