Without a doubt, people are divided on the artistic merits or otherwise of graffiti. A random scribble or tag can hardly be considered artistic if it defaces a pristine wall or someone else's artwork. But some inner city neighbourhoods are blessed or cursed with images that are at best, amusing and at worst, intrusive.

Here are some examples of street art featuring human figures and animals that I have found in and around Chapel Street in Windsor. Some will have been commissioned by businesses and property owners so are not purely acts of random vandalism.

This stencil of a cat brightens up a dull laneway and always makes me smile.

Several animal designs such as this fish cover the wall of a bar-restaurant in a quiet lane off Chapel Street.

I'd rather see this mural than a dull brick wall any day.

And isn't this image better than a "Beware of the Dog" sign?

So keep your eyes open for any interesting street art on your urban journeys.
