Over three nights, Flemington Racecourse will teleport visitors back to the summer of 1963 at Kellerman's Mountain House. You'll be able to step into the world of the movie
Dirty Dancing at the first
Immersive Cinema during the weekend of 22 to 24 March.
From 5.00pm to 8.00pm, there will be no shortage of fun where you enjoy the many activities from sport, arts and crafts to dancing, there may even be a talent show.
Once you enter through the Kellerman's gates, phones and digital recording devices are placed into a pouch. If you need to use your phone, you will need to make your way to the dedicated
Phone Zone near entry. There's a $1.00 re-sealing fee; bags can be only be re-sealed once with a $2.00 fee for a new bag. All money collected will be donated to The Patrick Swayze Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund. 35mm film cameras, polaroids and disposable cameras (which will be available at the gift shop) will be allowed into the event.
At 8.30pm the big screen will come alight with the screening of
Dirty Dancing, one of the most beloved romantic movies of all time. It's the story of Frances "Baby" Houseman, a young woman who falls in love with dance instructor Johnny Castle at Kellerman's resort. The movie stars the late Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey.
There's a BYO chair policy but it can't be any higher than 60cms off the ground with chair legs no higher than 10cm off the ground. Picnic rugs are recommended.
A number of vendors and caterers will be providing a range of light snacks and meals, from the finest in American dining to exotic fare with vegetarian and vegan options available. Visit one of the on-site bars and choose from a handpicked range of wines, wide beers or summer cocktails.
ATMS will be able on site with most bar and food vendors will accept EFTPOS.
The all-ages event
will take place on 22 to 24 March at Flemington Racecourse.
