A stay at home Mum who doesn't stay at home much; too many exciting things to be discovering in this city...
This Prehistoric Powerhouse is not to be missed
A whole new world of adventure is coming to Melbourne and this one is for all the little dinosaur hunters out there. The same team that brought us Santa's Magical Kingdom is all set to wow us with the brand new Dinosaur Adventures exhibition. And according to rave reviews from Sydney, where Dinosaur Adventures was a big hit at the Easter Show, this is going to be a pretty awesome spectacle.
Dinosaur Adventures will be setting up at Caulfield Racecourse over the school winter holidays from June 21st until July 29th. Each day has several sessions, with each session lasting two and a half hours. Check the website for exact session times as they vary from day to day. Tickets cost $27 per person, with under 3s getting free entry. Tickets can be purchased through Ticketek The event is aimed at all ages although some of the animatronic dinosaurs may be a tad scary for your tinies.
So what is it all about? Dinosaur Adventures is, in essence, a prehistoric exhibition. However it is much more than a museum display. The Dinosaur Adventures team explain it as, "a prehistoric world full of life-size moving dinosaurs... be amazed and thrilled as the greatest creatures ever to walk the earth return before your eyes and come alive.''
Meet some very realistic dinosaurs
Besides the moving dinosaurs, there are loads of hands-on activities for children to get involved with: they can become a palaeontologist by unearthing fossils, create beautiful sand art pictures, visit the dinosaur library to hear the Ranger's dinosaur stories, play in the sand-pit, have their photograph taken inside a giant dinosaur egg and experience the fun inflatables and rides on offer. Once you have gained entry, all of the activities are included in your ticket price. The only things for which you need to pay extra are refreshments, merchandise, carnival games and photo packages.
Huddle around the campfire for some dinosaur tales
Dinosaur Adventures has its own Facebook page so you can keep updated with the whys and wherefores and ask any questions you need to. If Santa's Magical Kingdom is anything to go by, this event will be a sell out, so if you're keen I would buy tickets sooner rather than later. You may go straight to the top of your child's Best Friend list.
