Nourishing you and nurturing those in need
Imagine having someone say they'll take care of dinner for you tonight. You won't need to plan a trip to the supermarket, you won't be tethered to the kitchen, and you'll have so much extra time to do other things. What would you do with that time - read a book, zoom some friends, catch up on sleep?

Now imagine that every time you start to prepare a meal your child with a disability needs something urgently and you have to drop what you're doing and give the care needed. Or imagine that you are having financial struggles and have fallen into a depression so debilitating that just getting out of bed takes your energy for the day. What would having someone cook dinner for you mean now? What would it mean for your partner or your children?

Dinner on the Table aims to nourish you and to nurture those in need. Established by founder Rachel Golding, Dinner on the Table cooks and delivers meals to you, and uses some of your money to cook and gift dinner for a family in need.

As well as giving you a time-out from preparing meals, Dinner on the Table's vision is to challenge the way disability services are provided in Australia.

Rachel is a former University of Sydney academic and her research was focused on households in which a parent or child has a disability, and understanding family wellbeing in this context. Women who have a disability, or who care for someone with a disability, are more likely to experience poverty and poor health including depression, anxiety and stress. They are often employees, partners, mothers and carers. And just like their peers without a disability, they are trying to balance work/life commitments, often with fewer resources and greater challenges. This has become an even more pressing issue during the COVID pandemic.

Dinner on the Table aims to help solve the problem by providing practical household support through delivery of ready-made, healthy meals in a cost-effective and meaningful way. A social enterprise based in Sydney, Dinner on the Table has recently expanded to Melbourne. The team prepare family-style meals, as well as catering for special occasions and corporate events, with profits being used to gift meals to families living with disability.

The meals are delicious, nutritious and are all cooked from scratch with premium quality ingredients. The menu collection will whet your appetite, and also includes some sweet treats which we could all do with during lockdown.

Since its establishment in February 2015, Dinner on the Table has had a huge impact changing daily lives, one dinner at a time. Here's a snapshot of the impact made up to July 2021.
