Ever fancied having dinner and drinks 50 metres in the air?
I first saw this dining concept whilst in Edinburgh for the Edinburgh festival 3 years ago. Awesome idea, lousy weather and ticket sales failed to take off due to this small inconvenience. However Scottish summer is extremely different to Sydney Springtime and with temperatures hovering around the 20 degree mark what better way to have a night than no other than to dine suspended in the warm, light breeze air.

Dinner in the Sky is taking diners to new heights as part of the Sydney Morning Herald's Good Food Month October 2013. This is an inaugural launch of the attraction for Sydney; its first open availability to the public, and will hopefully be the first of many.

Well, what's it all about?

Visualise this: 22 people around a table suspended in air by a large crane, secured in their seats via straps (similar to a roller-coaster), able to rotate 180 degrees whilst drinking and dining on the best produce and drops available in the city. Your feet are supported by a base to your chair and you have several waitstaff free to move and serve. Need the toilet? No worries. Ascent and descent take roughly 1 minute each so if nerves get the better of your bladder staff are able to lower the table as required.

Maybe you have a boss or a parent who's 'done' everything that you need to thank? Maybe you have a special date in mind? A proposal that will be different to any of your friends? There are multiple reasons to splash the cash on this iconic dining opportunity not least for its pop-up status. Thursday 17th, Friday 18th and Saturday the 19th of October are the special 72 hours where all 18 sessions will occur. This is not something you have the opportunity to be a part of day-in day-out each year.

Each event day sees several sittings commencing with lunch at 12 and 1pm (1 hour each), cocktail hour at 4pm & 5pm (1 hour each), concluding with Champagne dinners at 6.30pm and 8pm.
Prices range from $275 for a cocktail session, $310 for lunch to $380 for dinner inclusive of GST, refreshments on arrival in the cocktail lounge area and your drinks and food throughout your 'one of a kind' tasting experience. The dinner package also raises the stakes through the event partnering with world famous Champagne House Moet Hennessy as the beverages provider.

Tickets are limited so get in early to indulge all your senses in what is sure to be an iconic dining and drinking experience in Sydney. There will be no better way this Spring to experience the panoramic cityscape from this Moore Park location than suspended in air, feeling the breeze as you taste the best of Australia.
