Don't forget the Forties
The 3bCreative gang are ready to roll in Dinkum Assorted.
Multi-award-winning theatre company 3bCreative will bring the 1940s back to life at the Buderim Hall this month. The play Dinkum Assorted by Linda Aronson has had many productions in Australia, but none quite like this. From the moment patrons enter the hall, they will be transported back to 1942, to Jamieson's Biscuit Factory.
2000 Americans are posted near small town Warrabadanga. Fifteen women at the factory battle to keep the biscuits baking and the home fires burning. Full of laughter, tears, music and memories, Dinkum Assorted is great accessible entertainment and a small slice of Australian social history.
2020 will mark the 75th anniversary of the World War Two Victory in the Pacific, and what better way to remember than this heartfelt production which pays tribute to those who fought on the home front.
Anne Grant, creative force and patron of the performing arts, is the driving force and artistic and stage director of this ambitious production. The large cast all needed several costume changes, and Anne (a former costume creator for Queensland Theatre) and her helpers have been sewing for months.
St Pat's Irish Choir get into their roles
The Palmwoods Little Village Choir will play "St Pat's Irish Choir" in the play, and also provide a wonderful singalong interval of wartime songs to entertain. Complete the picture with authentic period props and bright 40s-style graphics and factory signage designed by Joy Hinckley, and audiences are set for a fantastic theatrical event.
