Dine with Heart in May is back for its 6th successive year. Hosted by Sacred Heart Mission, this is a fundraiser to help with Sacred Heart Mission's Meals Program that provides hot, hearty meals, daily, to those experiencing homelessness, social isolation and disadvantage. Your help in making this a success will provide meals for free to those who need it most. Especially as winter draws near, it's easy to empathise and have a heart for those who rely on what might be the only meal or social contact, that brings a bit of relief and warmth into their lives.
This years Dine with Heart Ambassador and Smith & Daughters co-owner and head chef is Shannon Martinez. One of Melbourne's top chefs, she's leading the campaign and has a challenge you can participate in this month, and do your own feel-good charity event for the homeless. Food is a big part of being a Melburnian, but unfortunately so is homelessness.
Cook up your own $4 meals as it's done in the Dining Hall every day. You'll find updates about the challenge and Shannon's $4 recipes on Instagram. Create your event today online then cook one of your own or one of Shannon's recipes, hold a dinner party, a good old Aussie Barbie, a Sunday brunch or high tea with delicious treats, anything goes.
Every $4 you and your guests donates will provide people who visit the Dining Hall, often referred to as the heart of the Mission, with a nutritious meal. It'll also connect them to support that'll make important and lasting changes in their lives; and it all begins with a meal. The fundraising team is on hand to help you with ideas. Do contact them if you'd like some support, plus you'll find some helpful event materials for you to download if you need it HERE.
