Greek - it's definitely one of my favourite cuisines. And born and bred in Adelaide, I have been to my fair share. There they are like MacDonald's here. So when I go Greek, I am very critical of what is put on my plate.

[ADVERT]I recently decided to go to Dimitris on Beaumont with a few friends. It was tucked away in a little arcade and while I expected it to be busy on a Saturday, there was surprisingly hardly anyone there.

As a group we ordered the combination dip, which included a capsicum, beetroot, olive and eggplant dip with toast - yes, toast. The dips had a very good consistency and were blended quite well, but multigrain toast was a let down. I would have preferred maybe a tortilla bread or pita bread or something. I also ordered salt and pepper calamari which was good, but not great.

I ordered one of the most Greek things on the menu, roast lamb with oregano and lemon. I was very happy with my meat, it was tender and quite tasty, with a side of Greek salad and some potatoes. The dish as a whole was good and had a very home-style feel to it. But from my experience being a frequent Greek diner, I can't say it was one of my most favourite.

Looking at some of the other meals, I wasn't too impressed with the souvlaki. I thought it was really small, I have ordered that meal in other restaurants and it came out with a huge stick of meat. I'm glad I didn't order it would have been disappointed.

Finally the baklava for dessert. Now this was a good baklava and I've had many. Just the right syrup and had plenty of nuts, maybe even a bit bigger would have been even better.

Must say, though, the hospitality was great, very personable. The lady (who I think was the owner) was very attentive and pleasant and made the experience very assuring and comfortable.

Overall: Good but definitely not the best Greek restaurant I have been to. I'd advise you go to check it out, it's a nice place for a friendly and quiet dinner.
