The first Digital Writers Festival will take place from 13 to 24 February to discuss all things bookish.

Born out of the Emerging Writers' Festival it will include over 90 artists and over 30 events across twelve days. It will be live-streamed (AEST) at Digital Writers Festival website at no charge, allowing readers and writers from across Australia to take part in conversations with artists and peers located interstate and overseas.


Some of the events included are exploring a genre in the digital age, online-first literary movements, 'literary sexting', trolling and mental health, games criticism, and digital journalism. A panel discussion will bring together representatives from all of the world's UNESCO Cities of Literature, from Iowa City to Reykjavík, for a wide-ranging discussion on fostering vibrant literary cultures. The Digital Writers' Festival will also be taking part in White Night Melbourne with the event titled The Book of the Night. It will see 12 writers over the 12 hours write 12 chapters in a collective work of fiction.
