Love What You Wear, Wear What You Love
The Diamond Dog Vintage Boutique is a hidden gem tucked away in suburban Seddon, at the corner of Charles and Gamon Streets.
The Diamond Dog Vintage Boutique
The delightful Sally Sutton has owned the business for four years. Apparently Sally was a regular visitor to the store under its previous management and often said to the former owner - 'please let me know if you ever decide to sell', and one day, she did! And the rest, as they say, is history.
Sally behind the counter
Owning and managing The Diamond Dog is clearly a labour of love, as Sally is passionate about sourcing and offering high quality vintage clothes. The Diamond Dog's specialty is the 1940s-50s era. Sally laments that it is getting more and more difficult to source suitable clothing, yet she still seems to manage to find amazing stock. We're talking here about clothes that are well and truly a cut above what you'd find in an opp shop. These are vintage clothes in good (in some cases mint) condition. The styling of many of the dresses is so elegant and classic that they would be suitable for any formal occasion.
Display at The Diamond Dog
When I visited, there was a stunning red halter neck dress on display, complete with fitted bodice and full skirt. It would be perfect for a classy Valentine's Day dinner. This was priced at $180. There was also a divine ostrich feather wrap, which alas, had already been sold.
There were numerous pairs of vintage bathers, all in mint condition.

Sally keeps her prices at a reasonable level, to stay competitive. On her estimate, she sells her clothes at about 25% less than her competitors. This way the stock turns over at a reasonable rate and it keeps things interesting for her regular customers.
The Diamond Dog is well worth a visit as you never know what you'll find! As Sally says, 'wear what you love, and love the things you wear'.
