A coffee lovers haven
Di Bella Coffee Roasting Warehouse

Ahh, wake up and smell the coffee at Di Bella Coffee Roasting Warehouse in Surry Hills, a heavenly one stop cafe for all lovers of fine coffee and divine food.

Learn all about coffee and become a connoisseur to impress your friends.

Perfectly poached eggs on sourdough bruschetta. Light yet filling and oh so tasty.

Nestled in Holt Street, this modern vibrant cafe serves aromatic coffees from their own hand selected blended beans; roasting them right on the premises. A divine breakfast and lunch menu and a great range of coffee machines and beans for sale. All you need is a pillow to curl up with for some heavenly dreams in your 'new home'.

Counter beans!

Those distinct freshly ground coffee aromas waft through the air enticingly, luring you into the cafe like a siren leading you to your doom, you willingly obey the call.

Award winning Ali Reserve blend for all milk based coffees, ahhhh.

I was recommended to taste their Ali Reserve blend. Purposely blended for a milk based coffee - a la latte, winning the 2010 'Golden Bean Award'. It had a beautiful rich and lively flavour without the usual bitter after taste. I can see how it deservedly merited and award. I wanted to taste and learn more about their beans.

Sipping and basking in yet another coffee glory, I scanned the store to see what else I could unearth to tempt my somewhat slight bean addiction.

Di Bella Coffee's roasting machine, which prominently sits in the centre of the cafe, ('Big Bertha' as I like to call her) is surrounded by sacks of green coffee beans ready to take the plunge.

'Big Bertha' she is responsible for all the aromas wafting through the cafe/shop!

Take your journey to coffee heaven with the fifteen blends on offer. That's one a day for two weeks and a second on Sunday, then you can begin the journey all over again. Ahhhh.

Fifteen different blends to work your way through.

I'll get back to the coffee, let's look at the food, I'm hungry.

Breakfast and Lunch Menu

Di Bella has a reasonable selection divine cakes for a sweet brekkie or morning tea. While deciding, I noticed many regular patrons ordering banana bread with their coffee to go. Hmmm must be good.

Divine cakes to grab for a sweet breakfast.

I have been hitting the sugar a bit of late, so I opt for Eggs Bruschetta @ $16.90. Perfectly cooked poached eggs sitting on a crisp slice of sourdough, smooth mashed avocado, tomato salsa with lime, chilli and coriander, topped with the gorgeous colours of cress made it into a piece of artwork to feast with your eyes. This delightful combination gave my taste buds quite a party.

My friend went for the healthy Swiss Bircher Muesli @ $11.90. It looked scrumptious, so I had to ask for a teeny taste. Heavenly oats and nuts mixed with vanilla bean yoghurt, topped with a tea poached pear which was oh so soft. I had to hold back to ask for another spoonful. Another day, another breakfast.

Beautiful soft oats with smooth vanilla bean yoghurt, topped with nuts and delicate tea poached pear. I so could have have backed up with this. But I am going to save it for another day.

Quite a gourmet brekkie menu of ten choices. Crusty organic sourdoughs, NY deli rye or a date fig and apricot, all served with spreads. Egg soaked brioche with blue berry mascarpone and jelly. Eggs bruschetta in four different styles, a breakfast wrap of scrambled eggs, tomato relish, rocket and bacon. Hash and eggs. Perhaps a light porridge with rhubarb or Swiss bircher muesli to name a few.
Thinking of a decadent breakfast? Check out this menu.

The lunch menu looks divine and covers something for all tastes. Three healthy select salads of lamb, quinoa or aubergine. Pastas include a braised beef cheek fettuccine and goats cheese or a smoked tomato risotto. Mains cover scotch fillet, fish of the day, pork belly and mussels. And, of course, those interesting daily blackboard specials.

The cafe is licensed and carries a good selection of wines to go with your extra, extra long lunch with friends. A great place to linger to draw in the kaleidoscope of aromas.

Blackboard specials for a delicious lunch.

Di Bella looks like an upmarket cafe, no doubt. I kind of expected a little 'snobbery', how wrong I was. As I was eating my brekkie, I noticed how focused the staff were with their customers needs. Always efficient and very friendly. The place has a good vibe with happy, helpful staff. I always believe if the staff are happy someone at the top must be treating them right creating a good working culture.

Decadent Delights

You have by now 'whiffed it' and 'sipped it'. With these two Body Grind products you can also 'lavish it' and 'slather it' all over your body. It would certainly make you get up close and personal.
