The promises to be one of world sport's most unique events and tough to beat in terms of atmosphere, intensity, fervour and beautiful destinations – experience it all with All Blacks Tours.
It is now occupying the minds of players, coaches, management, travel agents and the general rugby public.
The British and Irish Lions, (formerly the British Lions) tour the southern hemisphere every four years, rotating between New Zealand, South Africa and Australia. They tour each individual country every 12 years. So it is the turn of New Zealand in 2017, after Australia was unsuccessful in the test series in 2012.
Let's look for a moment or two at a bit of the publicity which describes the recently retired Dan Carter's virtuoso performance in 2005 to Gavin Hastings deadly boot in the past, which gives readers many interesting numbers - check out some stats as anticipation mounts.,
(38) The All Blacks and Lions have played 38 tests with the AB's winning 29 tests to 6 with 3 drawn.
(76) The All Blacks have a very high winning percentage of 76% against the Lions.
(48) The All Blacks highest score against the Lions is 48, in a 48-18 win in 2005.
(634) The All Blacks have scored 634 pts - 97 tries, 49 conversions, 57 penalties, 7 drop goals and one mark. Some impressive statistics.
Matches: There will be three tests, instead of the historical four, two in Auckland and one at Wellington. Christchurch has yet to replace its EMI Stadium destroyed by the 2011 earthquake.
There will be five games against the Super Rugby franchises, one against the Maori All Blacks and one against the NZ Provincial Barbarians, traditionally called the Babas.
Further information will be posted when all details are available.
