Devil Woman is an original solo cabaret show starring Clare Elizabeth Dea which tells her personal story of overcoming challenges, due to a rare congenital condition, where her left-hand side of her body is smaller than the right.
Directed by Richard Lawton with musical direction from Joe Oppenheimer,
Devil Woman is a cabaret of contrasts from cheesy upbeat musical audition pieces, to emotional ballads and gutsy power tunes.
Clare Elizabeth Dea plays many comedic characters during the show, from a personal development guru to a dominatrix - which the audience love. These characters portray different phases of her life from growing up as a young girl, with Poland's Syndrome, hiding her condition, and still pursuing her career as an actress and going to many auditions but not getting callbacks, to adult dating tales.
With sensitivity, she tells the story of how she summoned strength from her grandmother to perform in the Edinburgh Fringe in Scotland.
Clare Elizabeth Dea presents a self-effacing style of humour and has a beautiful voice, and the star of the show is
Devil Woman, her alt ego who 'whips the audience into a frenzy' of clapping and singing in the aisles.
