I just had to pop back to Deux Peres in Surry Hills to grab a delectable birthday cake for myself in August.
I'd rather a small great quality cake to be memorable than a rather mid range kind of cake that is long forgotten.
This luscious 10 layer cake was heavenly.
Thin delicate layers of light vanilla cake, rich French chocolate and creamy smooth ganache, covered in a sweet strawberry gel.
Topped with two succulent juicy strawberries, curved twirls of rich French chocolate and yet another favourite of mine, a rich chocolate macaron.
I was one happy birthday girl. I did share with my daughter, well just a little on the day. Slicing the remainder into small squares I could open the fridge door at anytime during the following day and pop one int my mouth.
