Under the title "German History in Images and Testimonies", this exciting 2,000-year history of Germany is conveyed in a European context. 8,000 selected exhibits with a unique historical testimony from the collections of the Deutsches Historisches Museum show a lively picture of the past over 8,000 square meters. A depiction of German history in an international context is drawn up, which takes into account the process of exchange and political, as well as a cultural-historical relationship with neighbouring countries.

The permanent exhibition will be supplemented by changing special exhibitions in the fascinating new exhibition building made of glass, steel and a striking staircase spindle which opened in 2003. It can be reached through a separate entrance known as the courtyard of Zeughauses.
