Desire - A Blue Mountains Cultural Centre exhibition curated by Rilka Oakley, is a response to the theme of the current Sydney Biennale 'You Imagine What You Desire', and showcases some of the most influential contemporary australian artists including Joyce Hinterding and David Haines, Sarah Breen Lovett, Mike Parr, Joan Ross, and Ken and Julia Yonetani.
The Blue Mountains Cultural Centre has only been open for 15 months but has already established itself as a centre for high quality art and excellent public programs. The City Art Gallery located in the Cultural Centre showcases exhibitions including Ben Quilty: After Afghanistan, Los Caprioches: Goya, The National Photographic Portrait Prize as well a featuring many local artists from the Blue Mountains in their Expose Program.
'DESIRE explores how our desires create who we are and yet also limit our ability to reach our full potential. In this sense desire is a double edged sword both restricting us and propelling us forward.
