SubiARTco is having an opening to their eclectic exhibition, 'Desirables'. It will be held at their current pop-up premises at 67 Sheen Street, Subiaco on Friday evening, 17th May at 6.00 pm.

This is a group of 9 artists, as well as a guest sculptor Greg Johnston. All are very excited to present their new works across a broad spectrum of styles, media, and subjects.

There will be bright and original pieces for sale and this will be your opportunity to meet these artists. Why - you may even fall in love with one of their works and take home an original, one-off visually exciting piece of artwork!

Most houses could do with a warm and welcoming feel. Original artwork that is chosen by the owner can often give an ongoing sense of peace, tranquillity, excitement, and joy. This type of artwork can actually transform a house into a home.

SubiARTco has an impressive list of artists and sales from their Subiaco premises. They look forward to meeting up with you to discuss any artwork or commission you may have in mind.

This exhibition is being supported by Skigh Wines with one of the artists Carolyn Rhodes Thompson's artwork depicting the drying effects on our lakes and waterways. This is featured on the label for Scarcity, which is a special release magnum in aid of the drought-stricken farmers.

Carolyn Rhodes-Thompson is a local West Australian artist and teacher of 40 years. She was born in the country town of Lake Grace. Her early childhood was spent in the nearby town of Lake King, where she started painting after an accident in which she almost lost her left foot. Her inspiration comes from her childhood country background, where the land and lakes go on as far as the eye can see. Her work is also influenced by extensive overseas travel.

Colour, texture and the use of light are very important elements of her paintings. Carolyn prefers to work mainly in acrylics and mixed media.

Carolyn gained a Bachelor of Education in Art from Sturt CAE, South Australia. She has studied under internationally recognised artist Thomas Gleghorn and continued studying for her Post Graduate Diploma in art under the guidance of the late West Australian artist, Elizabeth Ford.

This art show 'Desirables' will be opened by renowned poet and author Stevie Belowsky. The exhibition will run from Thursdays to Saturdays from 11.00 am to 2.00 pm. Entry to the exhibition is free.

You can register your attendance by sending a text to Shirley on 0403 795 323 or go to their Facebook page.
