After 21 years it's no secret that Des Alpes Restaurant is a great place to head for an evening meal. However, you can also treat your tastebuds at breakfast and lunchtime at this Mitchelton restaurant.
Swiss toasted musli with fresh fruit and Maleny yoghurt for brekky
With breakfast offerings including the Swiss breakfast (eggs, bacon, tomato and Rosti), thin French crepes served with maple syrup and cream, Swiss musli and more, this is the perfect place to kick start your day. Finish your breakfast with a great coffee and you'll be set to face the day!
The only problem with the lunch menu at Des Alpes is deciding what to order. Highly recommended are the French Seafood Crepe (deliciously creamy and oozing with cheese) and the slow cooked pork belly, glazed with maple and star anise - a real winner. The pork is so tender it melts in your mouth and in contrast the sweet and sticky crackling is amazingly crisp and crunchy! Served with Nick's renowned Rosti (Swiss potatoes), this meal really is manna from Swiss heaven!
Slow cooked pork belly with maple and star anise glaze - heavenly
Desserts such as chocolate fondue (a minimum of two people required) and parfait aux fraises (the French classic ice cream cake) will tempt you to squeeze in sweets! Finish your beautiful meal with a great coffee - maybe even a liqueur coffee - and you'll leave Des Alpes feeling very satisfied.
Surely you can squeeze this dessert in!
A very tempting range of sweet treats fill the cabinets (baked onsite daily) and make the perfect accompaniment to a range of beverages.
The bubbly Monika and her staff are very friendly and service is good. Parking is easy with plenty of street parking nearby. This is a very popular spot, so booking is advisable. Des Alpes is fully licensed but guests are welcome to BYO (corkage fees apply). Why not give the usual cafés a miss and enjoy breakfast, lunch, dinner or coffee and cake at Des Alpes?
An extra bonus for locals are the craft mornings at Des Alpes, held every Friday from 11am - 2pm. Everyone is welcome and best of all, these mornings are free!
