Toffee and other gourmet delights
The South West region is full of amazing chocolate factories, wineries, breweries, ice cream makers and so on. Just west of Denmark though is something a little different. The Denmark Toffee Factory is home to hand made brittles, dips, chocolates, ciders and most importantly; Toffee!

The quiet little store is situated on a small farming property on the South Coast Highway, just 15 minutes from the idyllic town of Denmark. The country homestead is surrounded by green fields and the forest that has made the region so spectacular. There's a small playground for kids and indoor and outdoor seating to sit back and take a tasty break from driving.

Inside the store your greeted by enough taste testings to replace lunch. Toffees and brittle line stands on centre stage while dips and relishes are laid out over the counter. There is good reason for this, I would dare anyone to taste their produce and resist the urge to buy more.

The toffee isn't the stick to your teeth type we put up with in supermarkets. They all have a smooth, melt-in-your-mouth texture full of flavour from the first bite to the back of your mouth.

Some of the unique flavours include lemon myrtle, chilli, whisky and honey ginger for those seeking something different the usual array of flavours on offer.

So many goodies to buy!

The super crisp and crunchy brittle is just as impressive with Brazil nut, macadamia, peanut and cashew brittle available in plain, buttered, sesame or chilli varieties.

Besides the treats, Denmark Toffee Factory also hand makes a huge range of sauces, salsa and preserves which are all available for tasting at the factory (pictured). From Chilli-passion fruit mayonnaise to strawberry mango cinnamon jam if your bored of everyday condiments you'll find enough exciting new flavours here to keep you happy for a year!

If you're looking for their condiments in Perth they are labelled as 'a bit on the side' and can be found in independent stockists across the state. A full list of current stockists is available here.

Finally there is their cider. As I am not a cider fan I stayed away from it but the fact that some highly regarded drinks venues (Clancys, Mane Liqour, Freo Doctor to name a few) stock it speaks worlds of it's quality. It is bottled as 'Elephant Rocks Cider' and is apparently the first locally made Cider in Western Australia.

Your Comment
I much prefer soft toffee to the hard break your teeth stuff, so this place sounds like a great choice for that.
