The Denmark Festival of Voice is a celebration of the
"power and beauty of the human voice". It is on every year over the long weekend, when choirs, groups, singer songwriters, poets, spoken word performers and storytellers gather in the small town of Denmark.
This is always an enjoyable weekend dedicated to not only happiness, but also to an
"exploration of contemporary issues through voice". This festival is a project by Denmark Arts and the focus is also on community singing. Each year, there is an energising lineup of local, national and international artists.
This event will light up the streets of Denmark and resonate them with singing right throughout the festival! There will also be some workshops which you could attend, but hurry, there is not long to go till this event. Make sure you have your bookings for accommodation for this delightful coastal town or you could miss out.
This year is the 14th year the festival has been held and it will be on 1st to 4th June, 2018. There are a huge amount of artists/speakers/performers appearing for this event and some of them are:
Ziggy Ramo's is a great hip hop artist who over a very short period of time has become as essential as peers like Briggs and Remi.
This group was formerly known as "The Spooky Men of the West". They always wear hats and sing anything from Georgian table songs to "improbable hits".
This male voice choir from Perth first appeared at the Fairbridge Festival back in 2005. Since then, they have turned up at many venues, mainly around Fremantle, but also in regional WA and throughout Australia.
Elena B Williams is an Australian Samoan singer-songwriter. She started her music career at a young age at one of her father's poetry readings in a cafe in Perth. Elena's music is an unusual blend of soul, folk, jazz, blues and alternative but has a sound that is all her own.
Just some of the other entertainers/speakers are as follows:
Wirlomin Noongar Language and Stories Project
Mrs Laneous and the Miss Fitz

WORKSHOPSThe Denmark Festival of Voice workshops are a great way to get to meet your favourite Festival acts! You will be able to learn skills and experience from the performers themselves and therefore, expand your horizons. There are about 30 workshops during this festival and you can read all about them at this

RISING VOICES
New on the programme for this year is Rising Voices, which will showcase young adult artists who are making "waves". You can read all about this and see the stars at this

STORYStorytelling is a major part of the Festival. The storytelling yurt is a handmade space by Denmark's very own yurt-makers and is the venue for the art of story. This year, there will be four speakers from the "Centre for Stories" and a number of people with interesting stories to tell. You can read all about this at this
