Despite having lived within the perimeters of Redlands City Council for over twenty-five years, I continue to stumble upon new and fun places that I've never seen before. Case in point is in Redland Bay, which offers a respite area for nature lovers as well as a spacious parkland for young and old, right in the middle of suburbia.
Bordering a wetland area that supports ducks and waterfowl, and planted with beautiful natives currently in flower such as Wattle and Bottlebrush, this parkland makes for a pleasant walk under towering Eucalypts with a variety of birdcall as a backdrop.
The playground equipment is for the most part undercover with modern climbs, slides, swings and a small flying fox, which will keep the busiest of youngsters occupied.
Two undercover picnic areas are spacious and comfortable and are a handy spot for weary parents to relax, whilst keeping watch on the little people.
There is also an area of varied fitness equipment with instructions for those with a health regime. Bars for sit-ups, push-ups and chin-ups and parallel bars are included.
A large space exists, which would allow for team sports and ball games, or even for a picnic rug and basket. Water is also available, as are dog litter bags, though there are no bathroom facilities.
If you too need to get out and smell the roses or native shrubs or want to give the kiddies a run (and tire them out), then visit Denham Boulevard Park. You'll too will be pleasantly surprised.
