Part of Northpark Shopping Centre, the recently opened Denari Café and Dessert Bar offers both desserts and savoury dishes with Italian-style dishes forming a good part of their savoury menu. Portion size of their dishes is quite generous allowing them to be easily shared with a friend if you wish.

A cross between Nachos and Schnitzel, the chicken schnitzel in the Chicken Gringo was cooked just right and the Chilli Con Carne topping added a delectable savoury flavour to the dish. The Chilli Con Carne was partnered well by the smashed avocado and sour cream, and the corn chips added a crunchy element to the dish. Aside from chips, the dish also came with a salad whose freshness was a good foil to the rich-tasting elements of the dish.

The Angus beef patties in their Denari Burger were juicy with a delectable degree of char-grilled flavour. Bacon and barbeque sauce added a smoky flavour to the dish, which was complemented well by the sharp-tasting pickles. We also liked that the onion rings and chips were fried to golden brown and the chips were seasoned with just the right amount of salt. Served with the burger was ketchup that the chips can be dipped in for more flavour.

All of their pizzas are made on a 13 inch base allowing them to be easily shared. The Italian sausage in their Meat Lovers Pizza gave the dish a rich taste and the pepperoni imparted a touch of spiciness. Also among the toppings were ham and bacon to enhance the meaty texture of the pizza. As the pizza was cooked in a wood-fired oven, the base had a noticeable toasted taste.

While their Polpette Pasta only had three meatballs, they were all succulent and of a generous size. The penne pasta we chose was cooked al dente and the Calabrese sugo sauce it was tossed in did not taste too rich. Those that want to add some spiciness can request for some pickled chilli.

During our visits, the restaurant was giving away free Cheesecake Sticks for diners who were at the restaurant after 5pm. The cheesecake mixture did not taste too rich and was contrasted well by the crisp biscuit base. Out of the flavours we tried, our favourites were the Reeses Stick, which tasted much like its namesake; and the Raffaelo Stick, which had a bit of a tropical flavour from the topping of coconut and almonds. All their Cheesecake Sticks came with whipped cream which did a good job of cutting through the rich flavours.

The restaurant was very roomy and the décor gave the place a comfortable, relaxed and casual feel. Parking is not an issue as free parking is available within Northpark Shopping Centre's carpark. Denari is a nice place to have a meal, snack or just catch up with friends and family over a drink.
