Does the orchid sitting on your windowsill look sick with droopy, wrinkled leaves, or does it have healthy green leaves but no flower spikes? Would you like a collection of healthy orchids with spikes full of blooms?
Developing your own collection of orchids may be easier than you think and you will have an ideal opportunity to learn how at an
Orchid Workshop, "" which will be held on Sunday 13th September from 9.00 am to 12 noon in the Mount Lofty Botanic Gardens Nursery.
In this practical, hands-on workshop, propagating and growing orchids successfully will be demystified. You will be taken through the scientific principles of plant growth and propagation methods, provided with information on how to best look after your orchids and given demonstrations of growing media. As a result, you will learn and develop a range of techniques that you will be able to apply when creating your own orchid collection at home, including the very specialised methods involved in dividing orchids.
Morning Tea is provided and, at the end of the session, you will be able to take home your very own orchid and any propagation materials you generated during the course!
This course is ideal for anyone from rare plant collectors to horticultural students, keen gardeners or those who simply have a particular interest in or love for orchids. It will involve practical activities so appropriate footwear (closed shoes, no sandals) and gloves will be required.
