It's hard to believe such a gourmet secret hides out in Brisbane's suburbia, but
Delicatezza is just that. Tastefully and lovingly decorated and stocked, this little deli is
the place to stock up on quality smallgoods - think imported cheeses, fine meats, local preserves, handmade cordials, housemade chilli oils and chutneys. It's not hard to spend a while perusing all these gourmet goodies from around the world lining Delicatezza's shelves. Just make sure you take something home with you.
During the day, a steady flow of regular customers sit sipping the Merlo coffee blend, Lindt Hot Chocolate and local Nine Owls Organic Tea, served with organic Barambah milk.
The seasonal menu also features local produce, with highlights including Swiss Brown Mushrooms on Ciabatta, French Toast with Passionfruit Marscapone or Corn Fritters for breakfast, Ploughman's Lunch or Deli Platter for lunch. I really enjoyed their Quinoa Salad with sweet potato, rocket and fetta last week - simple, nutritious
and delicious.
Owner/Chef, Peter Shaw, also bakes to-die-for cakes and sweet treats onsite. Don't go past his Flourless Chocolate Cake and/or Mulberry Pies. If you're over Mitchelton way, and in need of some refreshments, Delicatezza is certainly worth a visit. Just look out for those hanging red geraniums.
