Kate is a Melbournite who now calls Sydney home. She's at her happiest when there's halloumi on the brunch menu and there's a dog to give belly rubs to.

Affordable cocktails? Look no further
'Happy hour', the two greatest words.

Where can you find cocktails for just nine dollars in Sydney? And delicious tapas for just five dollars? Well, just across the bridge it turns out, at Spanish Tapas restaurant Delicado.

Yep, from 3pm until 6pm every Tuesday until Friday, you can get some real bang for your buck with Delicado's happy hour. You'll find Delicado on the popular village strip of Blues Point Rd in McMahons Point, nestled under leafy trees and fairy lights. You won't miss it. Wrought iron balconies, and a constant hubbub of patrons enjoying a glass of wine al fresco style.

It's the perfect spot for an after-work beverage and snack. Their happy hour includes cocktails for nine dollars each, where you'll find the ever-popular espresso martinis, whiskey sours, negronis, martinis, and classic margaritas. After something sweet? Get your hands on a Cosmopolitan, or a gin fizz; gin with pineapple juice and mint.

If cocktails aren't quite your thing, don't fear. Beer, wine, and bubbles also feature on the happy hour menu, all for just seven dollars each, or a bottle of wine for 30 dollars. And if you're feeling peckish, you can tuck into their affordable happy hour snacks, which include marinated olives, classic Spanish potato bravas, fries, and toast soldiers with jamon and manchego, all between five dollars and seven dollars. The serving sizes are generous, too, so it's great value for money.

Get there early to nab a seat outdoors, as they tend to get busy, especially towards the back-end of the week. If you miss out on an outdoor table though, there's plenty of seating indoors, including their upstairs balcony, which just quietly, is the best seat in the house, complete with a view of the Harbour Bridge (don't tell anyone! It's the best-kept secret of North Sydney!).

Are you getting the greatest cocktails in the world? Look, probably not. Are you getting extremely good value for money, in a fantastic location where you can simply sit back and watch the world pass you by? Absolutely. Honestly, where else in Sydney can you get a nine-dollar martini? That alone is reason enough to make the trip to McMahons Point and enjoy an affordable cocktail on Blues Point Rd at Delicado. That, and the incredible potato bravas.
